Why a Glossary
Quotes hide in vocabulary. When you know what “K-style,” “spike-and-ferrule,” and “self-regulating cable” actually mean, you can compare bids on substance instead of price alone. This is the language we use, defined the way we use it.

Protection Types, Classified
Screens (mesh over the trough), inserts (foam or brush inside it), and caps (solid covers using surface tension) are the three families. Only caps close the system to debris entirely; within caps, stone-coated aluminum is the grade built for Illinois freeze-thaw.
Heated-System Terms
“Self-regulating cable” draws more power where it’s cold and less where it’s warm — no thermostat to fail, no energy wasted. “Ice dam” is the ridge of refrozen meltwater at the eave that forces water under shingles. Heater Cap pairs the two facts: heat exactly where dams form.
Warranty Language That Matters
